Frequently asked questions

What counts as a Photo ID?

One Photo ID is used per record you identify, no matter how many photos you upload for it — your own, or a full set pulled from an eBay listing URL.

What's the difference between a Catalogue Lookup and a Photo ID?

A Catalogue Lookup searches our database by catalogue number or matrix code — no photos, no AI. A Photo ID uses AI vision to identify a pressing from your photos. Lookups are free and unmetered on every plan — they never use a Photo ID.

Can I really identify a record from an eBay listing?

Yes. Paste the listing URL and we'll pull the seller's own photos and run the identification, so you can check what you're bidding on before you buy.

What happens when I run out?

On a paid tier, your allowance resets every billing cycle. On the free trial, once your 5 Photo IDs are used they don't renew — upgrade to keep identifying. Follow-up questions on scans you have already run never use another Photo ID.

Do unused Photo IDs roll over?

Paid monthly allowances reset each billing cycle and don't carry over. The free trial is a one-off allowance, not monthly — once it's used, upgrading is how you get more.

How accurate is it?

Our AI vision step returns a set of ranked candidate pressings with a confidence percentage for each, rather than a single guaranteed answer. From there, we ask you free follow-up questions against our own database to narrow it down. Identification quality is the same on every tier.

What happens to the photos I upload?

They are used to identify the record. A resized copy is kept for up to six hours so you can list that record on eBay without photographing it again — sooner if the listing takes them or you forget the scan. They are never shown to anyone, never sold, and nothing is kept after that.

Can I export to Discogs?

Not yet — CSV / Discogs export isn't built. What you can do today, with a linked Discogs account, is list a record from your collection for sale on Discogs without leaving WAXid.

Can I change or cancel my plan?

Cancel any time under Plan & usage — your plan stays on until the end of the period you paid for. To move between paid plans today, cancel and then subscribe to the other.
